Dhakai Jamdani is one of Bengal’s oldest handloom traditions. Each motif is woven into the cloth by hand on the loom, thread by thread, not printed or embroidered on afterwards. Parashmani is the softer variety of Jamdani, so the saree falls lightly and never feels stiff.
This one has a bright aqua base, scattered with small navy-blue butis across the body. The pallu and the lower edge carry a bold navy hexagonal lattice, with each hexagon lit up by soft mint-green threadwork in the centre. A clean border of fine navy stripes runs along the edges. From a distance it reads as fresh and cool; up close the hand-woven detail shows.
Light, breathable cotton makes it easy to wear through a long day, perfect for daytime pujas, family functions, haldi and summer festivities.
Styling: a navy or matching aqua blouse keeps the look crisp. Silver, oxidised or pearl jewellery and a gajra suit it beautifully.
